Welcome back to everyone for what is expected to be a very busy new school year. A special welcome to our 13 new Junior Infants who have settled in great and are getting on so well with Ms Lynch.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms Mc Kinney to our teaching staff. Ms Mc Kinney is currently working with 2nd and 3rd class.
A note for your diary. Mid-term break begins Monday 28th of October. The school will close for midterm at 3pm on Friday 25th of October and re-open on Monday 4th November. Please note that also due to whole school training on the revised Primary Language Curriculum the school will also be closed on Tuesday 18th October.

It is vital that we try to keep up good communication links between school and home. Please return forms in relation to contact details to Caroline in the office as soon as possible.
Good attendance is very important at school in order for your child to make good academic and social progress. It is vital that your child comes to school on time and with all the correct equipment. Please notify the school before 10.15am if your child is absent.
Well done to all those children who are bringing in their healthy lunches. It’s great to see so much fruit and veg in the children’s lunch boxes this year. Please avoid sugary items such as chocolate and sweets. Of course ONE treat is allowed on a Friday. But Friday only!!
Thank you to all those who have returned book rental money. Please return any outstanding book rental money to Caroline by Friday 13th of September. The fee is €60.
Any parent who wishes to participate or volunteer with the children throughout the year will need to complete a Garda vetting process. Forms are available from Caroline in the office.
In order to promote independence and self-confidence we ask that parents drop their children off at the gate and let them make their own way to the lines in the morning. If you need to meet urgently with a teacher, you can of course make arrangements to do so.
In an attempt to promote reading within the school, we have decided to begin a buddy reading system. Children from different classes will get an opportunity to buddy up with each other and share their favourite books. We invite all children to bring in a book from home each Monday so they can read to or share with their reading buddy.
