May Newsletter 2018

A reminder that we are closed next Monday 7th and Tuesday 8th of May. (Apologies for the late reminder!!) The school is being used as a polling station for the upcoming referendum and will therefore be closed on Friday 25th May. School will also close on Monday 4th June as it is a bank holiday. Term finishes at midday on Friday 22 June.

End of year testing in Literacy, Numeracy and Gaeilge will take place starting Tuesday 22nd of May to 31st of May. All children have been working hard all year in these subjects and I’m sure everyone will do very well. Please note Junior Infants do not take part in end of year Drumcondra testing and Senior Infants and 1st class do not do a Gaeilge test. It is essential that your child comes to school on time during this period so that testing can take place efficiently.

Class teachers are currently organising school tours. The infants will be going on their tour in May. Ms Canning will inform parents of details next week.  Tours will be booked for the last two weeks of the school term. (Monday 11/6/18-Friday 22/6/17). Class teachers will issue details regarding school tours in the next week or two.

Our Come Dine With Me school fundraiser is due to take place on Saturday 16th June. Currently only 11 families from the school are hosting. We urge any family available to host, even a small number of people, to get involved in what is sure to be a fun filled evening for the school community. Please note the event is not a competition and nobody’s culinary skills are going to be judged!!!! Anyone who is interested please contact myself or Michelle Cavanagh.

Sports day will take place on Friday 15th of June. Please note this date may change depending on the weather forecast. More details will follow closer to the time.

Swimming continues for 5th and 6th class. Please note there will be no swimming next week, Wednesday 9th May. Swimming will continue on 16th, 23rd and 30th of May.

First Holy Communion will take place, Saturday, May the 26th at 11am in Moville. We wish all children in second class good luck for their big day. Friday the 1st of June sees the annual summer procession take place at the school at 11.15 a.m. All parents and grandparents welcome!

We are currently finalising staffing and class divisions for next year. Parents and children will be notified as and when this is organised.

Finally Mrs Canning will be leaving us on Thursday 24th May to commence her maternity leave. We wish her all the best and thank her for all her hard work with the Infants. Ms Gallagher will be taking over from Mrs Canning until the end of the term.
