NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER 2019

Welcome back to what will be a busy half term in the run up to Christmas. This year the Junior and Senior Infant class and Senior Infants and 1st class will be taking part in the Christmas plays. The Junior and Senior Infant class performance will take place on Tuesday 10th of December at 11am. The Senior Infants and 1st class will perform on Wednesday 18th of December at 1pm.

The school are now in the process of electing a new Board of Management. The new board will need to be in place by 1/12/19. We are seeking a male and female nominee from any parent who has a child currently enrolled in the school. Information regarding the nominee process has been sent home with your child today.

Parents evening will take place on Tuesday 19th of November. Please note that school will end at 2.45pm on that day in order for teachers to organise themselves to get the parents evening up and running quickly. Timeslots for parents evening will be issued shortly. If times or indeed the date do not suit, please contact your child’s teacher and we will do our best to accommodate you at a different time or date.

Thanks to everyone who helped us collect the Rugby token from Aldi. We have completed 4 posters which will get us 4 sets of rugby bibs for the school as well as 4 entries into the draw for €50 000. Fingers crossed.

The school are now taking donations for the road of hope shoebox appeal. We ask that all shoeboxes be in school by tomorrow Thursday 7th of November. Don’t forget to attach £2(sterling) to your box for postage and package. For more information, check out the website www.roadofhope.org.uk

Well done to our student council for organising a fantastic movie night on the last day of mid term. Thanks also to all parents who helped out on the night. The children were all excellently behaved and everyone had a great night. Over €200 was raised which will go towards getting some equipment for the playground. Thanks for your support.

This year the parents’ association are organising a Christmas Family Fun Tea Party in Greencastle Community Centre on Sunday 15th of December from 2pm-5pm. There will be Carol Singing as well as face painting, Christmas craft making and many other fun activities for the children.   Anyone wishing to help out in any way please contact Michelle Cavanagh.

Please note that if there are any changes to collection arrangements for your child please let your child’s class teacher know. It is vital that teachers know with whom your child is to be collected by.

Remember, school closes for Christmas holidays at 12.30pm on Friday 20st of December. Please note that this is a half day. School will reopen on Monday 6th of January.
