Happy new year!! Welcome back everyone to a new year and a new term at Scoil Cholmcille. Please ensure that if your child is absent that you inform Caroline in the office. Our system requires that we input a reason for your child’s absence.
A reminder that the school will be closed on Thursday 20th and Friday 21st of February for midterm. School will re-open on Monday 24th February.
Billy Doherty will be in school to take photographs of children this Monday 13th of January. Please ensure that your child is in full uniform.

A reminder that the Christmas plays will take place in the coming weeks. The Junior Infants and Senior Infants will perform Gabriel’s Big Break on Tuesday 17th of December at 11am. (Please note the change of date) Meanwhile, The Senior Infants and 1st Class will perform Children of the World on Wednesday the 18th at 1pm.
Please note that although teachers do not expect a present at Christmas time from the children in their class this tradition can still happen. Like last year, please consider instead of a gift for your child’s teacher, a small donation (€2) as part of Christmas Jumper/non uniform day on the last day of term. The money collected will go towards SVP.
Tickets for the children’s draw are available from the office. Once again the prizes are very attractive. Prizes include an O’Neill’s voucher, a Foyleside Voucher as well as a Smart TV!!!! Tickets are available from Caroline in the office €1 per ticket or €5 for 6. A reminder that all draw cards are to be returned by Wednesday 11th December. The draw will take place at the Tea Party on Sunday 15th December.

Welcome back to what will be a busy half term in the run up to Christmas. This year the Junior and Senior Infant class and Senior Infants and 1st class will be taking part in the Christmas plays. The Junior and Senior Infant class performance will take place on Tuesday 10th of December at 11am. The Senior Infants and 1st class will perform on Wednesday 18th of December at 1pm.
The school are now in the process of electing a new Board of Management. The new board will need to be in place by 1/12/19. We are seeking a male and female nominee from any parent who has a child currently enrolled in the school. Information regarding the nominee process has been sent home with your child today.

A reminder that school will be closed on Tuesday 8th of October to facilitate teacher training for the new primary language curriculum.
Goal Jersey day will take place on Friday the 11th of October. All children are invited to wear a Jersey on the day and to make a small contribution towards a great cause.
Thank you to everyone who helped to support our Aldi sticker collection campaign for a chance of winning €50,000. We have completed one poster already and are already onto our second one. Please continue to send any stickers in with your child.
The road of hope Christmas shoebox appeal 2019 is now launched. We ask that any family interested can put together a shoebox of small gifts with €4 (for delivery) and leave it to the school by Monday 4th of November. For ideas on what to put into each box visit, teamhope.ie.

Welcome back to everyone for what is expected to be a very busy new school year. A special welcome to our 13 new Junior Infants who have settled in great and are getting on so well with Ms Lynch.
I would like to extend a warm welcome to Ms Mc Kinney to our teaching staff. Ms Mc Kinney is currently working with 2nd and 3rd class.
A note for your diary. Mid-term break begins Monday 28th of October. The school will close for midterm at 3pm on Friday 25th of October and re-open on Monday 4th November. Please note that also due to whole school training on the revised Primary Language Curriculum the school will also be closed on Tuesday 18th October.

Cycling for our Junior and Senior infants continues on Friday mornings. Well done to all children for taking part.
As St. Patrick’s day falls on a Sunday this year the school will closed on Monday 18th as it is a bank holiday. The Easter holidays run from Monday 15th of April to Friday 26th of April. School reopens on Monday 29th of April.

World book day in Ireland will take place on Thursday 7th of March. The scholastic book fair will run from Thursday 7th of March to Tuesday 12th. More details to follow shortly.

Well done to both the credit union quiz team and the Battle of the Books team who represented the school so brilliantly in the last few weeks. The Battle of the Books team came first while our Credit Union quiz team were narrow runners up. Well done and thanks to Ms Lynch for preparing both teams so brilliantly.
